Introduction
The sole purpose of this website is to sell products we love and believe in to people who want to buy them. In other words, we do not show advertising on the site, we do not use affiliate links, nor do we use any other method whatsoever to monetize our customers' data. That is an absolute promise!
So, to this end we only collect data about our customers that is essential for the core working of the website.
And we never share that data with any third party unless it too is absolutely essential for the working of the site - for example, when passing credit card data to our payment processor (Stripe.com).
The Data We Do Collect
We only collect data that you explicitly give us as you use the website. For example:
- when/if you create an account
- when you enter your name, address and contact information when checking out
- when you enter your name and email address when you subscribe to our newsletter
- and of course, we keep a record of the products you order together with the date and time the order was placed and the totals paid.
We do not collect data in any other way, nor do we attempt to set tracking cookies, pixels, etc on your browser.
The Data We Do NOT Collect
As stated above we only collect data that you explicitly provide us with. A lot of additional data is available to us — eg, what browser you use, your IP address, your location, etc — but we do not record this in any way that could link it directly or indirectly to you.
Payment Data - Credit/Debit Cards, etc
Although, when you enter payment data (credit card number, expiry date, etc) on our site it looks like you are giving it directly to us, we actually never get to see the data you enter itself. The page you enter the data on contains a section that is actually hosted by our payment processor Stripe.com. Everything you enter on this payment form can only be accessed by Stripe itself. If the payment is successfully processed we are supplied with a unique transaction identifier. And of course, all data is transferred securely using the https:// protocol.
Google Analytics
We do use Google Analytics to collect usage statistics that help us to understand how our site is working in the real world. We do not supply any personally identifiable data to Google Analytics.
How We Use the Data We Collect
We use your data solely to enable the website to work as intended and to process any orders you place with us.
- Your name and address will be used to label any products you buy so that the courier will know where you want the order delivered.
- The courier will also be supplied with your phone number in case of a delivery problem.
- Your email address will be used to contact you if you explicitly subscribe to our newsletter, and in connection with any order you place with us.
How We Store and Manage Your Data
Any data that we collect from you and store (as per legal requirements) is kept securely in a password protected database. Login passwords are one-way encrypted ("hashed and salted", for the curious). So if you forget your password, we can't recover it for you. Instead we will have to generate a new password for you.
What You Can Do About the Data That We Retain
You can request a copy of all the data we hold on you at any time
You can request that we completely destroy any data that we hold on you at any time
